We're still seeking participants for a short survey about whether / what kind of training you've received for working with international students.

Anyone who works in higher education in any student-facing role (from any context) can participate:

I work almost exclusively with autistic, neurodivergent and multiply disabled PhD students who are operating in complex sets of circumstances but who, despite uni scepticism, have nailed their PhDs with some straightforward adjustments. It just needs an open mind and a little willingness.

"We are forced to strategize – even when we don’t want to. Therein, perhaps, lies the rub.

Because we are proactive in reducing our barriers, we have an expectation or at the very least a hope that our colleagues, managers and in the broadest sense our employers will adopt the same stance."

Just realised that my free book featuring over 20 activists Autistic Community and the Neurodiversity Movement: Stories from Frontline has been accessed over a million times! link.springer.com/book/10.1007...
Good to see it spread through news, policy, social media. Glad so many have benefitted. 🙏

Do you know a UK-based wheelchair user who works in a lab and would be willing to user-test our prototype of what is believed to be the first-ever lab coat adapted for wheelchair users?

I genuinely think this video should be mandatory for literally everyone. It is very short. Please watch it. And think about it!

Being sick while chronically ill sucks.

Came down with a bug (90% sure its tonsillitis) overnight and into Boxing day. The horrendous migraine and muscle pain has passed.

Day 4 and still have throat blisters, a fever, and just managed to eat a banana, and a jacket potato.

Talking is a no.

Disabled parking bays - a less thought about fact

For many disabled people it isn’t proximity to shop/venue that’s most important

Their main need is the wider bay, allowing them to fully open side doors and get kit/wheelchair/themselves in and out the car

(This one time as Sabb) I had a near argument with Uni staff over Disabled students 'wanting' 6-hour exams - no one WANTS a 6-hour exam, it's a marathon, but often the only way to complete the standard assessment. Imagine if we looked at inclusive and innovative assessment techniques for all...
