Any senior politician whose country is a NATO member should withdraw an invitation to serve on Trump’s Board of peace until
1. He apologises and withdraws his remarks about participation of their armed forces in Afghanistan
2. Withdraws invitation to those condemned for war crimes

Is Tony Blair seriously going to take up a place on Trump’s Board of Peace rather than walk away from and distance himself from Trump’s recent insult to British and other NATO participants in Afghanistan?

Having watched the Trump horror show at DAVOS four things on YouTube have given me heart:
1. John Gardner (psychologist) on his diagnosis of Trump’s ‘Malignant narcissism’ and dementia
2. Mark Carney’ s masterclass in how to react to the rupture of the world order.

Trump acts like he is running a protection racket. What's going to be interesting is watching all those right wingers who have defended him argue that it is right that he attempts to strong arm UK et al into letting him occupy another NATO country.

Time surely for UK plus European leaders to stop sucking up to Trump and play him at his own game. For a while not specifying retaliation for the moment but making it clear he has crossed a line and signifiant response will follow.

Farage’s face and body language during Jenrick press conference unusually tense (toothache or dental problem) suggesting not quite in control of the narrative that Jenrick is desperately spinning. Massive wake up call to Labour to get their media projection smart. Starmer on notice re May elections

@therestpolitics.bsky.social Starmer interview with Nick Robinson on the Radio 4 Today Programme this morning. Thought he handled Robinson‘s questions on behalf of the Tory and Reform parties and detractors well. He did not get riled and was articulate, well prepared, clear and prime ministerial.

Al Gore didn’t hold back: The Trump admin is “attacking the heart of truth,” twisting facts like the Nazis did in the 1930s. From climate denial to rewriting the Ukraine war, it’s all about power—not reality.
Gore warned the U.S. is under siege—and every former leader should speak out like he did.

Laura K anointing Nigel Farage as future PM. What does this say about a). Her objective journalism and b). The BBC’s complicity in making respectable the populist extreme right agenda?

Privatised vs Public Water

England & Wales: Private firms = high bills, big dividends, underinvestment.
Scotland: Publicly owned = lower bills, reinvested profits, better performance.

Leakage? Less in Scotland. Sewage spills? Fewer. Public ownership works. 💧 #UKWater

A question from a TRIP plus member:
“Would Keir Starmer have more world influence and the courage to stand up to Trump if Britain were in the EU given he is one of the few European leaders of a government with a majority ?”
