As a future healthcare worker, I hope to connect evidence-based nutrition with decision-making, by understanding how food affects the body can help patients make meaningful, realistic changes that support better health. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social 👋 ♥️

Before trusting any nutrition post, I will be making sure to check whether it’s based on creditable sources or experts with proper credentials. Social media often promotes a lot of misinformation in context to nutrition, so its important to check the sources. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I chose this article from Mayo Clinic because it’s evidence-based, easy for parents and caregivers to understand, and comes from a highly trusted medical organization. It clearly explains which nutrients kids need and how to build healthy eating habits. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Tom‘s story shows how deeply personal and complex weight loss can be especially when UPFs shape our habits from a young age,Tom was choosing habits he could actually maintain and his story reinforces that compassion and flexibility are just as important as nutrition knowledge.@beh353.bsky.social

I realized from James Corden’s message that obesity is complex and often begins with factors like school meals, marketing, and access to healthy food. Instead of placing blame, I want to focus on advocacy and understanding. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I connect a lot with the barrier about not having time to plan or cook healthy meals. Between working/commuting/taking classes/shadowing, I barely have time to prepare anything. I’ve tried meal prepping but just couldn’t keep consistent when things got more busy.

I tend to take L-theanine supplements to help with relaxation and also for sleep, as it has been more effective to me than any another supplements. I found in this article pairing L-theanine supplements with caffeine could potentially help boost mental clarity. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Here’s What You Need To Know About L-Theanine

The BHF article encourages making gradual, realistic swaps like choosing whole grains or reducing added sugar to improve long-term health. I think it’s high quality because it’s written by a registered dietitian and aligns with evidence-based nutrition guidance. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I was looking up fad diets and found that there was a Blood Type Diet? It claims your blood type should determine what you eat, like type O should eat high-protein while type A should go vegetarian. There doesn’t seem to be any actual scientific evidence. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Lately my go to meal has been a baked feta pasta. To make this more nutrient dense, swapping out my regular pasta for some whole grain pasta for more fiber, adding in grilled chicken for protein and adding in some bell peppers and spinach for some veggies.🫑 #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

My 24-hour food recall was honestly not as easy as I thought It would be. I had been so busy with work, so my brain was a bit foggy trying to remember everything I’ve had.I was surprise at how carbs and sweets heavy my diet was. Definitely need to incorporate more fiber. 🫣@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

A fun fact that I learned was the Glucose is the only nutrient molecule that passes our blood brain barrier. When there is a lack of glucose, ketones are used as a substitute. Without glucose or ketones the brain would not be able to function properly. 🍭

I chose to quote post this because it makes we wonder how can “eat better, not less” be used to make healthier choices without focusing solely on calorie restriction while still maintaining a proper balance of food that is better? #beh353

Large number of variables= false positives. Testing too many variables with too few people will almost always create false positives📈. An article that has just one variable with many participants would provide more reliable results. 🍫 ≠ weight loss🥹. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353 🍓
