Let's all wave the nuclear deterrence policy goodbye. nuclear countries can now attack nonnuclear ones without any repercussions
whatsoever

To simplify it even more: russia told the US they will use intercontinental ballistic missile that might or might not have nuclear part and the US Embassy in Kyiv closed without telling the reason.

Just to sum up for all my confused people here: russia has just normalized using the missiles that are supposed to carry nuclear weapons as long as you notify the US about it in advance so they can close the embassy without any further elaboration.

The timely aid is not only helping on the battlefield but also boosts the morale, the primary reason🇺🇦 managed to withstand in the first place. A lot of Ukrainians are feeling let down. We are not asking for boots on the ground, we are asking for the means to protect ourselves and the rest of Europe

Come fall 2023 when the US couldn’t pass a bill to help Ukraine. We here think it was a breaking point and we still haven’t recovered from it being delayed so much. Most people in Ukraine believe the war might have been over if we actually kept the pace we picked up in the beginning.

Case in point: Ukraine was advancing in 2022 regaining most of the territories that were captured previously. There’re a lot of factors that attributed to that but the main one is definitely aid being provided quickly and in the promised amounts.

Thank you for such a broad reply, it perfectly sums up what I was trying to say 🙏 It’s not so much “what” rather than “when” and “how much”. The main reasons Ukraine is not advancing is any help that we are promised is provided late or not in the promised amount.

Forgot to update: we actually arrived 5 minutes early 😎

How is stopping russia in Ukraine without actually sending its own people to die not a good bargain? I’m genuinely curious.
November 20, 2024 at 10:18 AM
russia signed a document promising not to invade Ukraine (and without any exceptions that would justify it). Other parties signed a document that promised to support Ukraine if a nuclear state attacks. So far, it’s russia breaking the agreement and West (kind of) sticking to agreement, that’s it

As a Ukrainian, from our prospective it’s only boots on the ground or full military support. I don’t appreciate everyone sucking to russian propaganda about “war with NATO” when NATO hasn’t even showed up yet. Everything Ukraine gets now is a direct response to russia invading.
November 20, 2024 at 10:17 AM
Unpopular opinion: such decisions shouldn’t be announced publicly, it only benefits russia. Every day I’m thankful Ukraine didn’t notify anyone about Kursk operation, otherwise it would be on the front pages before it even started with the doomsday headlines “we’re all going to die”

Just to be clear, this is not to say that I am not actually safer when I go to the Western countries than POC, I recognize the struggle completely. But putting Ukrainian on the same level of “privilege” as literally any other white person in the world is a bit bonkers.
November 20, 2024 at 8:34 AM
Once I joked that Ukrainians are “off white” - white enough to be blamed for the white privilege by POC but not white enough to be recognized as equal by the colonial powers like France, Spain, GB etc

(I’m still proud of this joke to this day ngl lol)

Being Ukrainian is reading the first two lines and adding “in real life” lol

“But they will nuke you”. I’ll take the possibility any time of the day if what we get in return is the chance to actually survive as a nation. And if the world is ok to let the whole nation to go extinct to appease the bully, Ukrainians are not the problem here, just saying.
