If this country made the slightest bit of sense we'd be beating Europe's doors down to secure a youth mobility scheme.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says the public want to leave the ECHR

Let him know he’s wrong by sharing this widely
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage says

“We need to leave the ECHR so we can deport people that come illegally & take back control of our borders & that’s what the public wants”

Share if you disagree with his populist boll**** the UK should join Russia & Belarus outside the ECHR

The market for wine is about to get a lot messier and more problematic thanks to Tory reforms that will kick in in February, which Labour should have repealed (on grounds of sanity, frankly) but haven't.

Daniel spells it all out. He's an industry expert. Remember those?
This week I have not only doing my actual job of bringing our wines to market but have also tried very hard to point out the major flaws in HMRC’s new wine excise laws which if they go ahead the UK state is likely to be defrauded by wine producers the world over. Here is how, why. It’s not pretty.

I’m not against alcohol duty at-all, but the complex Tory shake up that Labour are implementing in February favours large business over small, creates more barriers to trade with the EU and will mean less choice & higher prices for UK wine drinkers whilst raising less tax revenue, it makes no sense!
A bunch of wine friends is trying to stop the February duty hike. To join the protest send a capsule or screwcap to Rachel Reeves c/o HM Treasury, 1 Horse Guards Road, London SW1A 2HQ. Please urge the government to #capthewinetax. Our petition goes live soon. We’re aiming for 10,000 signatures.

The UK never voted to leave the Single Market.

In fact we were promised we wouldn't leave it.

So why can we not rejoin it?

#Bordeaux is still making fantastic wines, in an astonishing range of styles and price points. Yes there are wines beyond the reach of many but so much more that delivers joy at an affordable price. 50% of Bordeaux sold in UK by SMEs and specialists, #punchingabovetheirweight. Buy some for Christmas

Made a (quite short to begin with) wine people starter pack. I feel like the wine world is a bit under represented here so please point me in the direction of folk I ought to know / be adding.

UK wine drinkers, your country needs you! Please sign Tim's petition and send a little something to the Chancellor asking her to #captgewinetax. Prices will rocket for many wines next Feb without a change of heart on the #WineEasement

Meanwhile the new UK government missed a gift wrapped opportunity to boost duty revenue at the Budget and #MakeTheWineEasementPermanent. From February 2025 duty calculation becomes hopelessly and unnecessarily complicated. Tax up, prices up, more work, less revenue, less growth.

I hosted a delightful #Bordeaux wine dinner last night. Many thanks to Westminster College for amazing menu and to CIVB for support with wines. Haut Mouleyre Cremant, G de Giraud, Tronquoy-Lalande 14, Palais Cardinal 16 and Carmes de Rieussec 18 all tasted delicious. Guests had a 'perfect' night.

Very excited to come across to Blue sky from the other place. Will be bringing news from the world of wine, including the political and business angles and yes, the good stuff itself and the people who make it.
