No, though you do get a LOT of wheelbase change under load. It’s arranged so that the trailing arms pivot on the same axis, and the torsion bars both twist *and* bend. It’s an extremely neatly packaged setup, makes for a huge trunk.

asymptotically approaching it haha. it's also going to need a bit more welding than I was reckoning on, but the whole idea behind that project was that it'd be a good way to learn my way around an Extremely Hot Glue Gun anyway. Might buy myself a MIG welder for christmas...

oh man, I had similarly cursed antics recommissioning the scirocco; a plastic surge tank in the fuel system cracked and leaked everywhere.
the kicker? it was a brand new OE VW part date coded 2014, that I'd replaced because the original leaked 10 years ago. of course, they're total unobtanium now.
