As an atheist (and recovering Catholic) I still love to visit old churches and cathedrals. I’m struck by how much the clergy were patrons of great art, but also did so much damage to people.
This was Vienna, St. Stephen’s.

So the deep watering tubes were a success for the tomatoes. Look at the roots on this one. Some of the deeper roots broke off. I’ll do this again next year.

I found out that even though I turned off AI, every app is set by default to feed Apple AI and Siri. I couldn’t turn this off for all apps, I had to go into every one and turn it off. Banking, med provider portals, even calculator. Every fucking app is feeding their AI.

Remembering my father-in-law, who fought fascism.
We’re learning about his journey, parachuting into Holland, fighting at the bulge, all the way to Berlin.
I hope people will again start celebrating the real heros.
Next year, we’ll be following his steps, in significantly more comfort.

The summer heat brings black widows around the property. They like my front steps and gate. I’ll leave them on the back fence or areas I don’t go. The one on the brick was about 4cm. The other was a bit smaller.
Both are no more.

And then there’s the old Sambo’s that’s still a thing in Lincoln City, OR.
Little Black Sambo was a very inappropriate child’s story when I was a kid.

🌱 I let a couple of carrots go to seed for the next planting.
When the seed heads turn brown, I harvest them and hang thim in the greenhouse to finish drying.
Then the seeds can be easily removed and stored. This pile was 2 seed heads so I have plenty to share and plenty to leave for the finches

My big lilies are starting to kick off their show. These will bloom into late August or September. The flowers in full sun will be pure white with little fragrance. In part shade, they have pink tinges and lovely fragrance.

First time growing corn. What made it do this? Some ears came out fine while others are like this.
I hand pollinated them when they were blooming.
