I plan to incorporate nutrition in my professional career by guiding others in the right direction with their diets. With those around me at work, home, etc. I will make sure they are aware of false nutritional information and how to detect true ones. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

When you think of thanksgiving, you think of plates piled with food… this shouldn’t be the norm. Having a reasonable amount and stoping at comfortable should be. Sit, enjoy, and talk to your family during this meal. The only thing that should be stuffed is the turkey!🦃 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Thanksgiving foods are not the issue. How fast you eat and how much you keep piling on the plate matter more. Slow down, taste your food, and stop at comfortable instead of stuffed. Enjoy the day without overthinking it. #RealWorldNutrition

One thing I will look for in a nutrition post is the credibility of the author. It is important to understand the background of who you are taking advice from! something I was looking forward to this Thanksgiving was I’m mom’s au gratin potatoes.🥔🥔 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I’ve learned that with the right cranberries they can also be very crunchy. This is not only a great way to get in antioxidants and fiber into your diet but it’s also perfect when you’re craving something crunchy. An odd but fun snack! 😋 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Cranberries are naturally tart, which is why most cranberry products have added sugar. Fresh or frozen cranberries are a different story and offer antioxidants, fiber, and a sharp flavor that works in both sweet and savory meals. A small boost with real benefits. #RealWorldNutrition

I chose to provide this article for a parent or guardian of a young child because of how broad the options are. There were no specific ingredients just simple guidance for how to feed a child a nutritious meal! It’s great for anyone regardless of socioeconomic status. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

FInding different ways to cook "boring" vegetables is a great way to enjoy a meal while keeping its nutritional value.A misconception with my friends is,you have to eat a salad in order to get your vegetable intake. This method might help them enjoy vegetables in a new way.@beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Roasting is an easy way to make vegetables taste richer and sweeter while preserving their nutritional value. Toss diced veggies in olive oil and season; spread on a baking sheet and place in a hot oven to turn simple produce into something you actually want to eat. #RealWorldNutrition

After reading Tom Carroll's story I learned that change doesn't have to come from medications of surgeries, but small changes in the things you still enjoy. Tom was still able to enjoy snacks without messing up his progress. This just shows that change comes from within. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Focus on the present and what you want to accomplish! This post goes perfectly with the topic we're learning in my nutrition class, obesity. For those struggling with obesity, it is never too late to start making a difference for your health! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
The year isn’t over yet. Two months is plenty of time to make progress on something that matters to your health. Focus on what you can do today, not what you didn’t do yesterday. #RealWorldNutrition

After watching the clip of James Corden responding to Bill Maher's fat shaming take, I agree with James. Fat shaming does not provide the "tough love" that people think it does. Instead, it causes thoughts of self-loathe, depression, and anxiety. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This post resonates deeply with the topics we discussed this week in our nutrition class. The barriers of healthy eating we discussed are in this post! It is so cool to see an expert talk about these barriers. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Hunger isn’t only about food. It’s tied to income, housing, education, and access to grocery stores. Real nutrition solutions start by understanding those bigger systems. #RealWorldNutrition

One barrier of healthy eating that I fall for is the "cheapness of unhealthy foods." An example of this is soda's and juices compared to whole fruits being juiced. The cost of two oranges and a pack of strawberries is the same, if not more, than a jug of cranberry juice. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I never knew mushrooms held such amazing vitamins and minerals! I started enjoying mushrooms only about 2 years ago and after learning this, I'm glad I haven't looked back. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Mushrooms are low in calories yet full of nutrition. They provide B vitamins, minerals like selenium, and antioxidants. Some even contain vitamin D when grown in sunlight. Adding mushrooms to meals is an easy way to boost flavor and health benefits. #RealWorldNutrition

Vitamin K comes in 3 variants: K1, K2, and K3.This week I took a look at vitamin K1 and I learned about its benefits. K1 supplements are typically taken by those who suffer from bleeding disorders like blood clotting. These disorders come from a malabsorption of vitamin K #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I agree that spinach gets a bad rap and mainly due to movies and TV shows! It’s such an easy vegetable to toss into any dish without changing the outcome of it. My favorite way to incorporate it is by adding it to pasta. 🍝 @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Spinach gets a bad rap, but it’s one of the most versatile vegetables. Folate, vitamin K, iron, fiber — all in a low-calorie package. Fresh or frozen both work. Toss it in pasta, eggs, soups, or smoothies. It doesn’t need to be complicated. #RealWorldNutrition #NutritionFacts

This popular press article gives us insight into foods that naturally have probiotics! Foods like kimchi, sauerkraut, and fermented pickles have lots of probiotics. Garlic, onions, barley, wheat, and leeks are prebiotic healthy. These foods aid in gut bacterial health! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

The paleo diet is interesting to me because of how you are focused on eating unprocessed foods. Foods like dairy, grains, legumes, salt, and refined sugars are not allowed 🚫. It is defined to help with blood sugar control, weight loss, and heart health.❤️ @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This post reminds me of a myth I heard a while back! Someone once told me to not eat anything before working out because it can increase cramping. Later on I learned that was a complete myth! Eating something light that will give you energy is perfect before a workout. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I’m normally pretty good with my daily water intake, but sometimes I tend to reach for other drinks. Juice, soda, or even seltzer water are all of my guilty pleasures. Instead, I could swap them out for flavored water. Adding cucumbers or lemons to flavor my water!🥒🍋@beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Looking back at the last 24-hours my diet consisted of my normal day-to-day meals. I make sure to include a variety of the nutritional groups while some get more attention than others. This past week has included more fruits than usual (thanks to my roommate’s parents!). #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Something that really stood out to me this week was that no sugar is "better" than the other. Honey is just as nutritionally valued as high-fructose corn syrup 🤯. Growing up I always thought honey was the "healthiest" form of sweetener! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This week’s lecture made me more cautious when it comes to social media posts, magazines, and even posters. There are articles posted with headlines made to trick the audience into thinking a certain way. The right credibility for an article will change your outlook. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
