Synchronous time is actually super important - any calculation using time is only as precise as its timing. Kinematics equations (such as velocity, acceleration and thus location/distance) are almost all based on time if you look deep enough. Time is one of the few things we consider truly constant.

There's "downtown" which is a bunch of office highrises and then pike place, which you can drop down from to the piers.

If you're looking for comic stores in particular, I'd walk around cap hill, specifically by Cal Anderson Park, which has Phoenix Comics and a few bookstores, and is more walkable
