Was happy to be greeted by inky caps this am. This mushroom excretes enzymes to digest itself to spread more spores. When the dark spores mix with the digestive fluids, it gives the mushroom an inky appearance. So goth, I love it.

Lately ive been really into zines. They are a great alt medium to convey info and community happenings. This semester I made a EC activity in my biodiversity class that had students make their own zines focusing on their favorite organism in class. Check this out (shared with permission)

When my collaborator, Selena Smith, and I process these Cretaceous fruits we are able to observe and collect amazing details of tissues and cells. All of which are important for identifying and analyzing the relationships of these Antarctic fossils

Distributing a couple hundred paleobotany/art zines across Lawrence and KC. May these pieces transport readers to a place of awe and curiosity. Things we all need.

This is a collabo between myself and illustrator Bri Ladwig

Tree ferns are nice and all, but our main objective was to recover 3D preserved Cretaceous flowering plants. Long story short: mission accomplished. We found a shocking diversity of flowers and fruits that chronicle which groups were diversifying in the Southern Hemisphere during the Cretaceous

My lab has been 3D printing 80 million year old conifer cones from Antarctica. These are great for education. Theyre also reliable references for writing descriptions. The stl files will be available for others soon ⭐️
