I also do game stuff
No I haven’t made anything yet 🥺
Now, I don’t care what I do for a living as long as it involves computer programming.

I liked to play games as a kid, so, at four years old, I had already decided that I wanted to *make* them, but it wasn’t until I started high school that I took game development classes where I would quickly switch my focus to programming in general.

Although, I haven’t really started the game engine in Java yet. I’m still figuring out some of the basics for the libraries I’m using.

Who in their right mind would decide to develop three programming languages in C++ and two game engines in Python and Java?

I would, apparently!

I’d normally be skeptical about things like this, especially because it’s only a *possible* announcement. But considering that Half-Life is one of Steam’s greatest franchises, they ended on a cliffhanger, AND HL2 was released 21 years ago, they’re bound to have at least CONSIDERED a third game.

They just know how to play their cards right

You can’t just pretend that the coolest ending ever doesn’t exist and expect us to believe you

Also just a heads up, I am not in any way an expert in this. This is just what I found has worked best for me and what I’ve noticed so far while studying these languages and game engines.

I specifically chose Python and C because Python has a library specifically for making games, and engines like Unity use C# which is very similar to C. While there are some BIG differences between C and C#, you’ll mostly be using what you learned from C (as far as I’ve seen while using Unity)

From personal experience, learning a couple programming languages helps. It’ll get you used to the coding process and all of its rules and whatnot, *and* it’ll make learning other languages easier. I’d suggest starting with Python then moving to C.

YouTube has really gone downhill these last few years. I shouldn't have to give all of my private info to them just to get access to content that I'm not even going to watch anyway that they'll remove in a week for not being kid friendly.
October 23, 2025 at 11:27 PM
Unfortunately for them, I won't be giving them any of my personal information. That's where *I* draw the line.

I *did* just spend the last few months doing a bunch of research for a couple of projects I'm working on. I thought I deserved a break. But no, the moment I chose to watch something to make me laugh, THAT'S where they draw the line!

Bad art with good gameplay is better than good art with bad gameplay.

That’s actually why I love programming so much. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as getting to a point where I can add onto what I’ve made! And even if I don’t add anything, I still have something that I’m proud of!

EXACTLY! Too many people fail to realize that ideas are easier to read and write on paper than they are to set up and execute.

“____ should be easy to make”, I wish! No, it’ll take weeks, maybe months. Even then, it might still only be half of a working concept made entirely of spaghetti code!

That was back in 2004 so I'm not as frustrated, but it's also the only RPG that has ever actually held my attention for more than the first 30 minutes of the game, so it still kinda sucks.

I’m currently rewriting Topple in C++, just to get the hang of it. But I’ll probably be using it for all future versions at this point, because it’s just too good!
