Watching climate change with increasing interest.
UK freeports look dodgy AF too
Brave, a 3-week forecast for northern UK.

When there are Atlantic storms making prediction of more than a few days quite tricky.

Also, there are only 30 days in Nov which might be why you
got the date as Wed 02 Dec rather then Wed 03 Dec...

"according to an assessment"

Think it's this one:

Would seem unlikely, as CO₂ emissions are still increasing as per Prof. Jacobson's post last week:

Some climate scientists think 2.5°C will be exceeded by 2050.

Sounds a great idea, but in practice, the larger farms are more efficient

Meanwhile, convert arable land to solar farms

Government approves 'UK's largest' solar farm in Lincolnshire
Developers claim it will power about 300,000 homes - making it larger than any currently built.

While this all looks promising, if the fossil fuel consumption is still increasing (See Climate Disconnect's post in this thread) then the CO₂ cost of creating the EV stuff will be on top of the increasing CO₂ from fossil fuels.

EV use needs to replace fossil fuel use.
Thats my hope.

We don't even need to try any more.
(though the oil Co.s are, by drilling more & more)

A rise of several degrees C is already baked into the system.
We are only ~1.4°C above the pre-industrial baseline now.
The extreme events will become more commonplace.

Yes, I skied down the Vallée Blanche late '80s.
It was a short walk at the end to the cafe.
Recent videos show a much longer walk + a load of stairs at t he end of the glacier.

I expect this happened as the lane permits motor vehicles.
Would be classed as RUPP or BOAT.
Hence the "Unsuitable for motor vehicles" sign in the longer article.

Oh dear.
I hope:
1. Model is flawed
2. AMOC doesn't stop anytime soon

...as I really don't want a -29°C extreme cold event.
At present, there are only a few frosts each year here (IOM)
