100% agree. We are failing as a society. By no means do I believe this falls all on teachers- it’s on all of us.

We invest in what we value and we apparently value tax cuts for the rich & contracts for oligarchs at the expense of food, healthcare for our most vulnerable, access to education, etc.

I also deliver babies and see the full spectrum of parental involvement. A lot of homes don’t have food, clean clothes, access to medications, present and reliable parents, safe spaces. How can we expect kids to learn empathy when none is offered to them? When they’ve never seen or felt it?
November 17, 2025 at 12:26 AM
We get the communities we do in as much as we invest in the people in them. We can’t expect every home will be a nurturing, safe environment, particularly if we aren’t interested in creating that as a baseline in our communities.

I do have kids. And they participated in the Roots of Empathy program through their public school. And participated in service projects. Teachers are trained in such things, chose to be teachers, did the work. Parents have sex and continued the pregnancy. That is all that’s required to be a parent.

And “volunteer” military force.

Actually, Curtis Yarvin has suggested this
November 16, 2025 at 10:31 PM
Supposedly Stephen Miller would like to reduce the US population to a third of what it is.

Have more babies- but also there’s no jobs, water, food, healthcare. And only wealthy people can go to college.

To be honest, I also think they want to sink the dollar and build a crypto economy

Curtis Yarvin once suggested turning the impoverished into biofuel. Curtis Yarvin was invited to the inauguration.

It really depends on whether the demand remained high in the setting of the higher prices.
November 16, 2025 at 10:08 PM
The problem is- once the prices go up with tariffs, they don’t necessarily go down when they end. Once the consumer has become adjusted to a price point, the expectation of cost has changed. The tariff may be reduced but the seller keeps the prices higher and pockets the difference.

To be clear- the US has the highest maternal mortality rate of countries with advanced economies. South Sudan has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world. The US has embarrassing performance in women health overall and we should be ashamed.

I’m veering in the edge of “old woman” and have been married 20+ years to one man. I don’t consider my marriage to have been “early”.

Early marriage, both then and now, sounds and feels like a prison sentence. And they are selling it as such- a means of containment and a control of ideas.
November 16, 2025 at 9:46 PM
That assumes homes are equipped for such. The entry criteria to become a parent has absolutely nothing to do with social responsibility, love of children, skill at nurturing. In fact, the less social responsibility one has, the more likely one is to find themselves a parent.

I hope she filed an EMTALA complaint

All. Of. This.

(AND… this woman is clearly close to delivering and that baby has had zero monitoring/assessment. Failing mom and baby here)

I don’t see why we need more than half of the things Tesla is doing. Why do we need Robo Taxis?

There have been- Jane Doe/Katie Johnson received was threatened into withdrawing the case. Giuffre is clear in her book that she/her family were threatened that if she named names, she would be sued into bankruptcy, physically threatened, etc. These are powerful people and victims are usually not.

I’m so sorry that happened to you

It’s a very painful read.

It also gave the devastating feeling that almost everyone will become an abuser if given an easy opportunity.

I have no doubt he is an abuser but these cases are unfounded. Also- it is not common practice to publicize the names of minors in sexual abuse cases, particularly when the details of the crime are included
