Irish Social care worker training to be a social worker.
AuDHD. Talk about autism, some politics, and social care. #BetterWaysThanABA

🧵We are deeply appalled by the flawed restraint and seclusion guidance issued by the Department of Education (An Roinn Oideachais) in Ireland. This guidance poses significant risks to children and must not be implemented. #AgainstRestraint

My supervisor on placement seems to think autism and anxiety are pretty much the same thing, that environments that are extremely uncomfortable for sensory reasons are something I need to overcome to do my job.

Can’t tag other parties I want to see in government because they’re not on here yet.

Would your parties support this for disabled people?

I met a social worker Friday who had a caseload in disability of 1,600 people.
20 cases per SW is too much
8/9 I want to see real action, real engagement with disabled people.

What party will,

- Take a stance against ABA
- Promote trainings developed by disabled people (and allies)
- Bring in adult safeguarding laws
- Have a quota for hiring disabled people
- Eradicate oppressive practice

1/9 Came to Bluesky for a break because everyone on Twitter is talking about disability today after the Simon Harris comments, but everyone commenting on how bad Harris is also don’t know anything about disability 🫠

I love this so much 🔥

The whole reason I wanted to be a social worker is in this statement
Advocacy isn't about comfort—it's about challenging those who uphold failing systems. Real change doesn’t come from polite tea breaks and back pats. It comes from disrupting the status quo and holding power accountable. Advocacy exists because the world still needs it.
