George Harrison and David Crosby guest star as themselves, and the Dapper Dans partly provide the singing voices of the Be Sharps. The episode was originally produced as the last episode for the fourth season, it was held over to air as season 5 premiere, and therefore being the last episode produced by the show's original writers.

In a real life Fahrenheit 451 scenario, 36 copies of “Slaughterhouse-Five” were burned on order by Drake, ND’s school board. The board never read the book, but proceed anyways. Backlash ensued as the town was compared to Nazism.

In 1933, when the Nazis rose to power, All Quiet became one of the first “degenerate” books to be publicly burnt.

When the Nazis came to power, Remarque left Germany for Switzerland; he lost his German citizenship, his books were burned, and his films banned. He went to the United States in 1938 and became a citizen in 1947. He later lived in Switzerland with his second wife, the actress Paulette Goddard. He died in September 1970.

I think you are right about the end result if it makes it that far. The larger point is to put people on record & then make em own it during a primary or general election. Unfortunately the brokers of this shit shutdown deal are immune from electoral consequences until 2028, 2030 or not all 😡

The Ancient of Days is a design by William Blake, originally published as the frontispiece to the 1794 work Europe a Prophecy. It draws its name from one of God's titles in the Book of Daniel and shows Urizen crouching in a circular design with a cloud-like background. His outstretched hand holds a compass over the darker void below. Related imagery appears in Blake's Newton, completed the next year. As noted in Alexander Gilchrist's 1863 book, Life of William Blake, the design of The Ancient of Days was "a singular favourite with Blake and as one it was always a happiness to him to copy". As such there are many versions of the work extant, including one completed for Frederick Tatham only weeks before Blake's death

Despite early moves by the federal government to become more inclusive, racial tensions throughout the country continued to present challenges to the nation. A long history of discrimination and unfair treatment at the federal and state level often stalled reform. Many of the biggest injustices experienced by African Americans took place within the nation's court system. For this reason, the "Scottsboro Boys" cases served as an early call to activism when it was revealed that the defendants did not receive fair trials. While U.S. legal precedence requires a defendant have access to an attorney and be tried by a jury of their peers, these rights weren't always afforded to marginalized groups. In 1931, an all white jury, on flimsy and conflicting testimony, convicted nine young black youths, ranging in ages from 13 to 21, of raping two young white women while riding a freight train. The accusations emerged after black and white male passengers fought when white riders refused to share a train car that both groups were illegally traveling on as hobos. It was also later revealed that the women accusing the black defendants of rape did so to avoid separate charges of vagrancy and illegal activity. All 9 defendants, with the exception of 13 year old Roy Wright, were sentenced to death. In this July 16, 1937 file photo, Charlie Weems, left, and Clarence Norris, Scottsboro case defendants, read a newspaper in their Decatur, Ala. jail after Norris was found guilty for a third time by a jury which specified the death penalty. After this initial verdict, national protests emerged. One of the female accusers in the case eventually recanted the rape charges and began appearing at rallies on behalf of the defendants. The U.S. Supreme Court eventually overturned the Scottsboro convictions in Powell v. State of Alabama. The nation's highest court demanded a retrial on the grounds that the young men did not have adequate legal representation and were not represented by a jury of their peers. A series of retrials and re-convictions followed. Although the state of Alabama eventually dropped the charges against the four youngest defendants and granted parole to the other men, their lives were ruined. By the end of the ordeal, the Scottsboro Boys collectively served more than 100 years in prison. The last defendant was released after being incarcerated for 19 years. American society and culture, however, absorbed the young men's inequitable experience. Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, was loosely based on the Scottsborro cases and helped bring the issue of discrimination to readers across the globe.
