Half of the famous Carlton team of the late 70’s 80’s (some later) were from European NESB backgrounds : Val Perovic, Alex Jesaulenko, Anthony Koutoufides, Ang Christou Peter Bosustow etc.

(2) in the era of Trump somebody who could stable the ship. And Labor offered this more than the Coalition. I can see how progressives are frustrated that the only viable ‘progressive’ government party is either not doing more or even continuing Coalition policies.
