What did I assume? I said I didn't know if what he did was illegal, but he definitely claimed to have been actively donating and didn't, even after he realized the money hadn't been donated. Jirard admitted to that in a recorded conversation. That's unethical at best.

Open Hand only donated the money because they got caught. What they did may or may not be illegal (it's complicated) and even if illegal they might not be prosecuted (it's complicated). Open Hand claimed to be actively donated, weren't, and only donated once caught. Stop rewarding bad behavior.

Standard how? I've known as many Davids (pronounced Da-veed as it was in it original linguistic root) as I have David (pronounced Da-vid due to Guttenberg). I assume, since it's standard and true to the root, you're Da-veed as -id as pronounced -eed.

I have been reluctant to build anything in the Google cloud because of this behavior. How can I build something on BigQuery (for example) if they might just kill it AND drop support at any point. AWS and Azure are hardly paragons, but they're more reliable than this.

Sense a lot of "Kids these days" in that post. Video essays (or the best of them anyway) are just indie documentaries. They're not for everyone and a lot of people don't like more traditionally delivered documentaries either. Really wish people would just say, "I don't like this" and move on.

I've worked with a ton of SDEs. They are largely great! No single person is more likely to think they are right about everything than a software engineer.
