yes, help me to subvert democracy, and I'll make sure there will be no legal consequences for you.
though - this will not apply to the 2028 elections.

To cover for others. The 8 are either retiring , up only in 2030, or ones who know they are not running again (like Fetterman)

That the MSM didn’t report about the pending premium hikes until the democrats made it core to their decision to shut down the government. They made the issue salient.

Ben - thanks for engaging and for your service! Btw - I didn’t write that I support ending the shutdown; only that I see the logic. I think the choice was harder than some people here seem to acknowledge.

Mmm. Sorry , that’s not what I wrote. Two things can be true: (1h the Media is not doing a good job covering Trump and (2). it still reports critically on his bad unpopular policies such as tariffs and BBB. Also - why the need to curse those you disagree with?

Well; we seem to agree on that. But- if the GOP insist to kill the ACA and would not negotiate on extending the subsidies, at what point do democrats agree to open the government? Never?

Well, we agree on that. 100%. All I wrote is that they are more likely to report now on the rising premiums and tie it to BBB and the shutdown.

I disagree with the premise that the mainstream media is not reporting critically on Trump’s failed policies. Do I get mad at the NYT, NPR and WSJ every day? Sure. But it doesn’t mean thy don’t report critically on Trump’s policies. They do. More than people here see to assume.

Nope. The evidence that the media is covering now the health insurance hikes is strong. But sure, nice to engage in civil exchange of ideas on hard choices.

Thanks, Ryan. I’m not saying that ending the shutdown is the correct move; only that I see the logic. But yeah - I expect to be cursed and ridiculed.

Fair enough. Though it’s hard to predict how the blame game plays out in the longer term. Thanks for engaging!

I understand he anger of the base, but I also understand why some senators want to end the shutdown.

Dems could not keep the government shut forever, because what goes around comes around, and we don't want republicans to keep a Prizker (or whoever) dem administration shutdown forever. This was never going to last forever.

Just as important, Trump and the GOP showed disgusting cruelty, for example, fighting tooth and nail in the courts to take away SNAP benefits from some of the most marginalized members of society. While MAGA loyalists don't care -- normie independents do.

Democrats made the rising health insurance premiums politically salient. When these premium hikes hit, the media will be more likely to cover it now, and remind voters that this is because of the BBB and Trump's refusal to spend on extending the ACA subsidies (38b) less than he sent to Argentina

She’s national treasure. Also more principled than most politicians: did not run away from the HIV epidemic, voted against the Iraq war, etc.
