1938 After something of a hiatus in climate change research (with some notable exceptions), Guy Callendar published a paper showing the link between observed rising carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere and observed global mean surface temperature.

Yes, as my post says, the theory was developed decades earlier. My study in 1938 was the first observational evidence that the globe had actually warmed, alongside the increase in atmospheric CO2.
