Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have cared for Sea Country for tens of thousands of years. Bringing Indigenous Knowledge together with Western marine science strengthens our understanding of marine ecosystems and leads to better, more culturally grounded management.

I'm particularly pleased because of what the Queen Elizabeth Prizes represent. They are part of the honours system, but uniquely they reward _teams_ rather than individuals. This is critical, because it is the true nature of modern, team science...

* And finally, if you're ever visiting Whakatū Nelson, the Fresh Choice supermarket here is legendary for its music playlist. It's a whole thing and has devoted fans. Today it was opera, metal, Ethiopian jazz and blues all in the 20 minutes it took me to mosey around the aisles.

A woman (50s?) spots another (20s?) in the street. Frowning, she says:
"You still sick darl?"
"Yeah. A bit under the weather."
"Got food in the fridge?"
"Was about to do that."
"No you're not. Go home. I'll be round in twenty. Made a big Shepherd's pie last night and you can have half of it." (5)

Big piece on how the UK is not getting the data it needs and how this is affecting policymaking. A key issue seems to be that the shift from surveys to admin data has not worked well as govt departments have not allowed the ONS access to the data it needs

How flawed data is leaving the UK in the dark
Trouble at the Office for National Statistics means policymakers cannot rely on key economic numbers, including on employment

A young human (3?) has decided the BEST view in the world is from the VERY TOP of a palm tree.
He clambers upwards, expression determined.
Nothing's gonna stop him!
Except...
Dad's now saying that he can have fish and chips if he comes down.
Hmm...
Maybe he doesn't need the view after all. (4)
