Well, they’re neither, which is the interestingly troubling part.
Pancakes are flat. European pancakes don’t rise (no baking powder), U.S. ones do (eggs, milk, flour, baking powder, butter, optional buttermilk and baking soda). Biscuits are mostly butter, flour, baking powder, no eggs, little milk

In fairness, there was a mention further down in the article about U.S. government facilitation of parts of the journey. I agree it’s (very) problematic that it’s necessary, but the call could be considered a prudent safety precaution (and may, for all we know, have been requested for… reasons).

I had shingles, diagnosed super early (my wife, MD, saw the ‘textbook” rash), treated almost immediately (antivirals), and it was still very painful for weeks.

Knowing exactly how many hoops they had to get through to get there (and acknowledging they had a much harder path than me coming from a ‘favored country’), I’m not sure ‘evil’ is a strong enough word.
