We weren't allowed to touch the shoes -- you can see the staffer wearing gloves -- but I looked closely and can tell you that Ichiro wore size 9 shoes, the same as me, which is both cool and very humbling.

He was wearing these shoes on Friday, May 22, 2015, when he singled in the second inning for the Marlins (sigh) against the Orioles. A barely remarkable hit-- except that with that one, he passed Babe Ruth on the all-time hits list.

When we visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017, we lucked into a thing they do occasionally -- they do a presentation on an item from deep in their collection. We were in a little room off the main floor and a staffer wheeled in a cart with the day's item-- Ichiro Suzuki's spikes.
