Kyiv Independent nails it, points out that they could have taken Russia’s €300+ bn in frozen assets and used it to defend Ukraine and they didn’t

Demonstration on Maidan or Independence Square in central Kyiv to draw attention to the thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians listed as missing. They may well be in Russian captivity, but Russia won’t say - preferring to keep their poor families in desperate limbo.

Zelensky being compared to pro-Russian kleptocrat Yanukovych as his party moves to neutralise Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions. Social media up in arms. But what to do? Protests are forbidden under martial law. The argument will be made that tarnishing Ukraine’s image serves Russia’s purposes

If you don’t want us to call it zombie deer disease, maybe don’t make that the headline?

Happy to see that thanks to my efforts our fake-busting programmes no longer clickbait people by asking whether it might be true - planting a doubt in the mind of whoever sees the headline but does not click - but make it clear from the very headline whether it’s a fake.

Where I’m from in London, most houses are late 19th century. Except some, where bombs hit in WW2. It’s only since the war in Ukraine that I look at them & imagine the scene the day after the bombing, the distress, the search through the rubble. I wonder who died, or were they safe in the basement..

Is it possible that the Pope is unaware that many (most?) Ukrainians find it deeply offensive to be referred to, as a people, as “brothers” or “cousins” to the Russians?

If so, then why has nobody told him?

If not, then what does he think he’s doing?

Just found this old note I apparently made for myself - or perhaps it was a sketch for the infographics department. From when #Ukraine’s president Poroshenko was accused of profiting from a scheme that had people pay for coal at Rotterdam port prices when in fact it was much cheaper Ukrainian coal
