Two journalists are in police custody in Somaliland for their journalistic work. The Constitution of #Somaliland guarantees freedom of the media and prohibits all forms of subjugation of journalists. The government shall respect its constitution and release these journalists.

Fire destroyed parts of a forest in #Erigavo, #Sanaag region. The highly centralised government of #Somaliland was ill-prepared to fight the fire. Hope they learn a lesson and devolve government services and institutions.

#Kenya is a close partner with #Somalia & has a substantial Somali population (voters) that is linked to Somalia. If Kenya had to choose between #Somaliland and Somalia, it would choose Somalia. Somaliland should not waste its time with Kenya. The focus should be somewhere else.

If president Abdirahman Irro succeeds in holding the upcoming elections on time as constitutionally required, it would be the first time in #Somaliland that an election is held without delay. It would be beneficial for Somaliland and the credibility of the president. 1/2
