POV: Naptime just ended at the #Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC) in Somaliland. Since 2023, the CRCC has been the primary intake point for #cats rescued from the illegal-wildlife trade and cases of human-wildlife conflict.

Update on Tango, the #cheetah rescued from the illegal wildlife trade last month. After her rescue, Tango was transferred to the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC) for rehabilitation - and has already gained six pounds!

This week, a #cheetah was rescued by Somaliland’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) and CCF. The #cat was transported to the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC) for rehabilitation - the main intake point for cheetahs confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade since 2023.

To keep our working #dogs as healthy as possible, we conduct routine health checks. One vital part is Body Condition Scoring, to ensure dogs are in optimal condition. This month, our team scored dogs across the program - and the #pups enjoyed the attention! Want to learn more? Visit cheetah.org

This year, marks a decade of Cheetah Conservation Fund's (CCF) work in Somaliland. In 2016, Somaliland strengthened #wildlife protection laws related to #cheetahs - and CCF partnered with the government to care for the rescued #cats.

This month, the Livestock Guarding Dog program set a new record - walking TEN #dogs at once - thanks to the visiting students from St. Francis University! These amazing pups are our resident breeding dogs, and getting them out of their pens for walks is such valuable enrichment - and fun for them!

Recently, one of our camera traps in #Namibia captured one of the rarest big carnivores in #Africa - a brown #hyena. Found across most of southern Africa, brown hyenas are classified as Near Threatened, and face threats like habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict.

Just a few seconds of #cheetah cubs for your Monday! All of these cubs were rescued from the illegal wildlife trade in 2025, and are now being rehabilitated at the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre (CRCC) in Somaliland.
