R.E.M. have today released a new remix of their 1981 cult song Radio Free Europe. The band has decided to donate all proceeds from the sale of the new record directly to RFERL, which is now struggling to exist because the current U.S. administration refuses to provide money appropriated by Congress.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has sent a request to the Czech authorities for the extradition of prominent opposition journalist Farida Kurbangaleyeva, who lives in Prague and has a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic. She is native of Kazan, Tatarstan.
