Not quite any of the above, rather 88% of the country is below the poverty line (~$8 per day)

An air conditioner is probably 2-4 weeks wages? And this doesn’t consider the cost of insulating or even setting up any kind of envelope.

Underrated factor here is only 10% of the country has access to air conditioning… that’s a lot of load avoided (until now). earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/15306...

Pity that people replace their cars every 3 years oh wait they don’t

Oddly enough there is an inflection point where things stop getting worse quickly. In my experience it’s at about 20° F (-7° C).

Below that everything is the same, efficiency-wise.

That point differential of *-6*!

What we clearly need is USB-D, a new kind of port that accepts both A and C plugs

It’s been “inevitable” for years now based on fundamentals, maybe they’ll meme stock their way through it.

Only thing I would consider changing is the color, to white, seeing as the only other actual color is “red” and I don’t like it.

Do it! Even in the snow!

Would EU-style ticket validation free up more funding for infrastructure projects, and what are the odds that change is ever going to be taken seriously?

“Not only will we show you how much cheaper our proven house brand is side-by-side, we’ll do it in 96 point font!”

The one-ply toilet paper aside, I often wonder why the named brands are still playing ball here.

?

The most that can be said is many of the people that live in urban areas don’t need a car.

Switching off gas-driven tankless water and the gas furnace wouldn’t require a panel upgrade, but I’m not sure that comes anywhere close to penciling out without household solar.
November 8, 2025 at 10:04 PM
Definitely something that’s one step at a time… just a panel upgrade to switch the oven from gas to electric and install a 50A circuit was $5k.

I present to you the menu at Fulla Beans (formerly Fulla Bologna), for whom this would be a good addition:

Baseline “we are on vacation” use is 6 kWh per day. I blame TV and whole house cooling/heating, large fans use up electricity.
November 6, 2025 at 2:38 AM
April 2024, but things haven’t changed that much.

That would be about 29.9 kWh per day. Closer to 14 only counting the house. Oh, and the furnace and water heater run on gas.
