I agree. Just been doing a Big Butterfly Count and got these in my garden in 15 mins on a not very good day. Imagine the difference if I had gone all low maintenance hard landscaping. Every one was a joy to see.

Had a super evening there as usual. Lots to see, do and eat! Highlight for me was the chap who has converted an early twentieth century film camera with Instax technology to produce instant prints via a traditional lens system. Yup photo geek here.

He still enjoys his food and being stroked if he is in the right frame of mind. He has a daily totter round the garden to sniff every plant and see who has gone by. He is deaf as a post and a bit gaga. Gets bewildered and howls if he can't see me but I believe he is happy in his own little world.

Here's a pretty from my garden. First flower on a Madeiran echium grown from a cutting given to me by a lady when I admired it in her garden. Full of bees even on a dull windy day.
