The only fluff knit. I am a too itchy person… Quickly gave it away.
Pattern is a tam by Nora Gaughan. Yarn is unknown, it was in a bag of leftovers I was given.

Peach coloured tam with a single stitch cable pattern on top. The last four stitches have been knitted into a cord. The cord is now in a knot.

Frogged the sock on the left because it was too stiff. I changed to larger needles. Current WIP on the right, much softer feel.

Another horror story for #ShowMeYourKnits: holes in socks with leather soles. I have covered them up with a knitted insole.

A headband made with leftovers from this sweater was lost years ago on the bus. I still lament it because it had a lovely pattern and colour, was warm and soft. The replacements have never been as good…

Two new hats for this week’s #ShowMeYourKnits theme.
Shown on a caranca from Brazil (it keeps evil spirits at bay).
A ‘Harry Slinger’ hat with a rolled hem. The colour is a kind of blue. Harry Slinger is a Dutch singer who always wore a red hat with a rolled hem. Knitted it for a colleague. A tam in lilac yarn. Pattern by Norah Gaughan. Knitted it for a work partner.

Doing a ten stitch blanket with scraps. Sometimes I use a double yarn and sometimes just one. I can point out several cardigans and sweaters, and also scraps from my mother’s stash. Love it!

Knitters’ choice for #ShowMeYourKnits. It starts and ends with this ‘cottage industry’: socks with leather soles. Large part of the family and wider circle of friends and neighbours have them.

Dear all, Thanks very much for all suggestions. It has been very interesting to read! Today a 86-year old neighbour said she had used them 80 years ago in Switzerland. She lived there for a year on a remote farm (for her lungs) and the people used these needles. They knit with the yarn on the left finger (whereas she as a Dutch person was used to the yarn on the right finger). The bent needles gave less weight and needed a smaller bag for storage. (And you also do not poke others!). The needles I have shown must have been bent by the user because they are not exactly the same. Length is almost 40 cm (so regular straight). ​
