This scream into the void is just as much for myself as it is for others. We cannot forget that being a human that sees the humanity in others is laborious and messy. Anyone trying to sell you a different story is, at best, misguided and, at worst, a malicious actor.

You will have to keep showing up! AI will not be able to script the conversation that shifts your neighbor's world view! You cannot lead a movement you've never even observed! Your strongest allies will not always be people you like!

I feel similarly about giving my cat blades of cat grass from our patio planters. He prefers it at a very particular stage of growth (texture and length), and each blade must be held *just* right when I present them. Nothing quite so tedious, nor as tender, as loving a cat.

Just so much shame and a bull-headed belief that needing care means they are a burden or weak. Maybe if I tell them frequently enough that it's my job to tell them when it's too much and their job to keep asking for exactly what they want and need it will finally sink in. Maybe.

This is all just hitting so hard as I watch and provide care to a conservative family member who almost lost a limb (and maybe their life) to an infection they let run rampant while they kept up at work. Even now, they're sheepish to accept my help.

Another reminder that most lawmakers have no clue how schools and classrooms actually function. This is a blatant attempt to control historic narratives, but it's also one bound to backfire. Most teens aren't thinking about communism... unless you give them only enough info to make them curious.
