Right, I feel that. I'm in that sector, and have seen it first hand.

That and, photography in the fandom is so gate-kept and oversaturated. I often find myself in this whole "too many cooks in the kitchen" vibe when I'm taking photos at cons.
I'm pretty sure I've made my mind up by this point, just gotta find my exit plan.

I've been driving more and more towards 3D printing and engineering vs. photography, and a lot of my favorite photos I often find were taken by someone else with my gear.
It's just frustrating spending so much money on gear, and getting nothing in return in terms of respect and gratitude.
