Just started WANDERING STARS by Tommy Orange last night. The poetry of the language is unmatched. So excited.

Today a cool breeze blew across campus while I sat with the entire Primary School during a morning of independent reading in celebration of Book Week. Students sat alone, with partners, or in quiet groups. All on task, all reading. What an incredible feeling!

Good morning, #edusky! I'm hoping to connect with #internationalschool teachers & leaders who work at the intersection of #mindfulness, #curriculum, & #instruction.

How are you integrating these topics into your practice?

Let's explore together.

Late to the party, but this morning I finished listening to IN THE DREAM HOUSE by Carmen Maria Machado (read by author). Machado shows us how to tell a story about a 2x-erased experience: being a lesbian & being a survivor of abuse. I found it gorgeous, heartbreaking, experimental. Recommended!

Bishop's essay on the transformative power of reading is still. So. Powerful.

Stumbled across an article by Allison Dunn while reading up on how teachers balance #screentime. I've observed quiet quitting & productivity theater w/in school contexts, but new to the idea of silent productivity. Here's to reducing reactiveness at work!

Stop Performing Productivity and Start Actually Getting Things Done
Constant updates, performative busyness, and visibility theater drain your focus. Silent productivity is the antidote: real work, real results, zero noise.

I'm curious, have any #internationalteachers found success in implementing #authenticwriting tasks at the middle-school level? Grade 8 specifically, but also younger. I'm looking for ideas!

Attending the ICA Conference in #bali reminded me of the importance of human connection, esp in an industry as transient as #internationaleducation. So, here I am (re)committing to social media. School leaders, curriculum experts, & classroom teachers, I'm excited to learn with you on this platform.
