Wasn't for Cyanotype type day but my 7yr old experimented creating samples for her textile and design course. Had to get them to greens and browns for the remit.

We don't really have a garden, more a steep terraced yard. Climbing/hanging is a required ingredient.

She used different ways of applying, bottle spray, pouring, dripping etc

Some have screen printed etc. She went for cyanotype to use my stuff. Toned with green tea for brown, fenugreek for green, the latter took 24 hours.

Nothing wrong with a tree! River and woodland combos are bread and butter down here, or the sea.

Chilled evening catching up on contact sheets. Had a play at the end with a negative from several years back, I fondly refer to him as the barbican cowboy.

If you see this post, post a bridge from your gallery.

It's better than the snap, and while there are shaded tops to some of the distant buildings, I know I clipped a few while tweaking the sky. Heyho.

Not sure if this is a safety practice, or how they disembarked for shore time at certain places. It looks fun anyway.

Fun and games were obviously had on what I guess was a trip measured in weeks. Some of the negatives have significant damage, and the photographer was prone to all the errors we know so well.

Of the moored ships, I am leaning toward the nearer, the funnel is not unlike the one pictured here while at sea. There may be other clues throughout the thread.

For scale, 2½x4¼ v 2¼x3¼. Interesting times back then. Stupid amount of sizes.
March 5, 2025 at 10:29 PM
You don't see 3½x3½ anymore 🤣

I will end the thread here. What I guess is near the start of her India journey. I will post others periodically, I have no timeline order. If by the slimmest of chances anyone can add any morsel to what I know, feel free.

So what do I know! An envelope containing some of the negatives was addressed to Tipperary Ireland, it was forwarded to Loughrigg Ambleside. Post marked from Abbottabad India August 1928.
Other negative envelopes connected to NZ, Chester and London. Other than that, I know little.

I acquired a box of old negatives, some glass plates and contact prints. Also some postcards and envelopes. They belonged to a Miss DMR Armitage, most are filed under "The India Trip". Some are printable, most are damaged but scannable. I will share the little info I have as I go.

I had to go look elsewhere to see it properly. Did he stage tge scene, I don't think so. Did hand around waiting for someone, probably. Did he ask someone to do it, possibly. I like the comp.
