This conference is your chance to connect, collaborate + spark real change✨

A tribute to the activists, researchers, and community members who have long worked toward more inclusive, justice-centered research;
And a challenge to the field; to go further.

🔍 We reviewed 6,623 records to explore mental health & well-being in children & young people with vision impairment (6–25 yrs). They often face worse outcomes, tied to inaccessibility not the condition. Social support is key for thriving. #DisabilityJustice #MentalHealth #CYPVI #Inclusion

Emotional burden could offer a new, neurodiversity-affirming lens to understand and reduce mental health risks in schools.

This work emphasises the importance of environmental adaptations—not just internal regulation—in supporting neurodivergent mental health.

Adolescents with ADHD and/or autism report significantly higher EB than neurotypical peers.

Autistic and ADHD youth identified different kinds of school events as emotionally burdensome—highlighting the need for tailored interventions.

We co-developed the My Emotions in School Inventory (MESI) with neurodivergent young people.

Emotional burden (EB) is distinct from emotion regulation deficits (ERD)—both independently predict anxiety and depression. ADHD and/or autistic teens report significantly higher EB than neurotypical peers.
