The Fish of the Sea!
100% Nosferatu-pilled. Best movie of the year

Rewatching Slumdog Millionaire. It's difficult to believe that this won Best Picture until you see what it was up against. The Writers Strike's impact lingers, perhaps.

Don't feel guilty when you shit turds. Turds don't believe in heaven, so they're going to hell. Just stay out of Hell, stupid.

Polishing off tonight with The Holdovers (my 6th-ish watch) . A perfect movie that keeps getting better on every viewing. As good as movies get.

If i had to nail down in one word why movies (at their average best) are better than TV shows (at their average best), that word would be: COLOURS

When food is good it goes to Heaven (pee) and when it's bad it goes to Hell (poo)

Movies are the medium of the Gods. A collision of all art forms unified for the sole purpose of a single-sitting experience. All movies are miracles, but really good ones require many art forms working at their peak in harmony to delivery a particular aesthetic and emotional impact.

I'm back on my bullshit (rewatching Conclave). It's so good, for what it is. What it needed was a final act twist revealing that someone had murdered the previous pope. If they could have pulled that off, it would have been immortal. But it's satisfactorily resolved none the less. Good movie!

I spent a week off of social media, which is something I haven't been able to do since who knows when. Bluesky is like nicotine gum. It's enough to get your fix without having it ruin things. Turns out it is possible to spend multiple days without thinking about Elon Musk.

I gave Joker: Folie a Deux another shot. Folks, this movie is amazing. Best looking movie of the year by a wide margin. Phoenix's best performance since The Master. It doesn't need to hit on any universal truth since it's such a personal statement from it's flawed but sincere artist.

1408 would be a top 10 movie this year, a top 30 movie any time in the last 10 years, and a Stephen King Classic for anybody whose heard of a top 30

Movies used to have John Cusack in them.
December 1, 2024 at 6:09 AM
Horror movies used to have Samuel L. Jackson saying things like "please, don't do this" in them.

1408 is no masterpiece but goes to show what is accomplish-able when you give a horror movie a budget and stars. Budget + stars + premise = money

back in 2007 you could make 1408, a dumb beautiful movie that is cheap and fun and has John Cusack and made money. Now we cant make that movie for reasons that make so sense to me. ,

Just rewatched Unforgiven. An astounding movie emboldened by meta-textual considerations relating to Eastwood's iconography. Not my first time. What stood out to me was how Hackman's earnest though immoral attempt to keep order in his town was more interesting than anything Eastwood attempted.

every liberal calling for pragmatism is a plant. Pragmatism is code for Losing. Pragmatism is code for Losing even when you Win. Pragmatism is code for blaming progressives when they lose. Pragmatism isn't pragmatic.

Boomers spent their entire lives making every decision using the reasoning that "thats for the next generation to figure out." Now that next generation has come theyre saying it's our fault we cant get ahead. They sabotaged us! We should be legally allowed to burgle them. That would be fair

Conservatism is a sewage system for broken people to pour their useless nihilism into. Rebranding cruelty as inevitability and social sabotage as freedom. They're a scourge and I'm tired of pretending that they're not.

Been rewatching the Pirates trilogy. 1st one is a rock-solid hoot. 2 and 3 get sillier and sillier with each passing minute, but they make up for it by being jaw-droppingly gorgeous and amongst the most impressive productions ever made. It's amazing how good expensive movies used to look.

Wicked, despite being terrible as a movie and a masterpiece of a musical; is effective as a cultural weapon because everything that makes it insufferable lib bullshit came out the Bush era. It’s anti-racism predates Trump. It can’t be called a woke response.

Elemental (2023): nothing matters except whether or not the romance works. Its an impressive production but the romance doesnt work. Simple as that. Swing and a miss
