WHY THIS MATTERS:

🦠 Viruses are underrepresented in existing protein structure databases such as the PDB and AlphaFold Database

🤖 We combined AlphaFold2-ColabFold and ESMFold to predict proteome level structures for >4,400 human & animal viruses

💻 Searchable and browsable at: viro3d.cvr.gla.ac.uk

Check out this new BBC documentary on Disease X and pandemic preparedness, broadcast tonight (22/09) and on BBC iPlayer.

It features @cvrinfo.bsky.social's work using #AI to investigate #virology and much, much more. 🧪🦠🤖

It was a real pleasure working with Chris VT and the team. Thank you!

🎄 What's in the box? We've expanded the structural coverage of viral proteins by 30x compared to experimental structures. Using state-of-the-art AI prediction methods, we're shining new light on the building blocks of viruses 🔍

I have been so impressed by the @ausvirologysoc.bsky.social meeting.

EXCELLENT talks, across all career stages. Amazing sense of community. Really positive and supportive meeting.

Plus, I beat @robull.bsky.social at the double-gloved tube capping challenge.

Thank you so much for hosting me!

THRILLED to be in Melbourne ahead of the Australasian Virology Society meeting.

Great coffee, great food, great graffiti, disorientating summer Christmas trees, what's not to love?!?

Well, isn't this nice. Lots of familiar faces & many new ones, plenty o' follows & happy vibes.

As means of further introduction: I'm a professional nerd & persistent optimist. You can find me geeking out over virology & evangelising about AI-protein structure prediction.

This is pretty close, even took a great guess at the view out of the window. But that's a BIG box of popcorn.
