You're pretty much demanding a loyalty test. I wouldn't accept such a test from a significant other, I won't accept it from you either.

You can either accept I'm an ally or you won't. But that doesn't make me a terf. I'm not going to suddenly start donating money to anti-LGBTQ+ causes.

FANFICTION IS FREE! I'm not giving her any money!

But continuing alienating your allies. I'm sure that can only work in your favor.

I said 'y'all' which is gender neutral, but go off. And, again, fanfiction is primarily FEMALE, so it's not a stretch to assume that someone I'm talking to who operates within the fanfiction space is female. Most people assume I'm male when I have an androgynous name because I'm on the Internet.

I didn't ignore it, that was a change of topic.

I don't hang in a lot of fandom-specific spaces anymore. I tend to poke around r/Fanfiction and r/AO3. They really like to do polls about sexuality and gender and the stats say fandom spaces are female cishet.

Harry Potter isn't going away. The fans that aren't chronically online haven't heard and almost certainly don't care about Rowling's views. Me? I'm taking every inch of HP fanfiction space and reclaiming it from her. It irks her that she can't control fanfiction. So I choose to be an irritant.

Oh please, it's not because there are more male characters that y'all are writing a lot of m/m fanfiction. You guys make up ships all the time. Slap two women together.

The bulk of m/m fanfiction is because heterosexual women find two males banging hot. That's why.
September 24, 2025 at 6:55 PM
I don't think I ever said women were perfect. But you're getting off topic.

The article is griping about how popular fics within the Harry Potter fandom that primarily appeal to heterosexual women are getting picked up for publishing contracts and that's bad because fandom is queer. It's not.
September 24, 2025 at 5:45 PM
Really? If it was all about seeing yourself in media, then why am I always hearing complaints about the lack of f/f fic?

Heterosexual women, by far, are writing most of the m/m work you enjoy. I hope that doesn't bother you.

So the author is deliberately making digs about the most popular fanfictions that happen to appeal to a lot of women specifically. That's not a good look.

Bringing down women and their media tastes to try to bolster interest for queer work looks awful.
