Day 17

Everyone sings the praises of Baldur’s Gate and Planescape, but this was the game that made me fall in love with cRPGs. I wish more games let you custom-build your entire party from scratch, and the soundtrack absolutely slaps.

Day 16

Probably my favorite fighting game, I know lots of people prefer IV, but III’s tactical mode was a fun little addition that sets it apart from so many other games. Maybe I just hate fighting games and prefer strategy games?

Day 15

Probably also my favorite rhythm game, and easily my favorite Wii U game.

Trump just designated “Antifa” as a terrorist organization, on par with ISIS and Al Qaeda. As a reminder, “antifa” is short for “antifascist”.

They will use this lie to surveil, imprison, and kill Americans on the left.

This may be our Reichstag Fire moment. Wake up.

The fact is, is that Disney isn’t watched by the right.
It’s too woke for them.

So now Disney buckles under the pressure from Trump.

Pissing off their only paying customers.

Day 14

I’ve only beaten this game once, but it took me something like 140 hours. Well worth it though!

Day 13

Every character’s arc is so good, especially Vivi and Freya, and Wueen Brahne and Kuja are some of the franchise’s best villains, but the meta-storytelling with Zidane’s theater troupe and the play-within-a-play really makes the writing in this one stand out.

Day 12

“When life gives you lemons, don’t make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don’t want your damn lemons- what the hell am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life’s manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am?”

Day 11

This game makes you think a lot about life, reality, and the kind of legacy you might leave behind. The ending still makes me tear up a little, just thinking about it.

Day 10

I’m sorry, I know it was groundbreaking when it came out and I actually really enjoy the game, but it’s just not as good as some other titles in the series that don’t get nearly enough recognition.

Day 9

I adore Stardew Valley, and I can’t wait to see what Eric Barons has in store for his second game.

Day 8

“Welcome to die!”

Day 7

I’ll be honest, I haven’t played a ton of games that heavily feature zombies, and I already used Planescape: Torment, but I remember being very impressed by Dead Rising when it was released. Maybe I’ll get around to filling that zombie-shaped hole in my gaming history one day!

Day 6

Vivi’s storyline, and Freya’s, are some of the earliest memories I have of becoming emotional at a video game.

Day 5

This game has caused more fights with my friends than any other. If you know, you know.

The president of the United States just declared war, actual military war, not a metaphorical one, on a major American city, and one governed by his political opponents.

In any other period, this would be impeachment-worthy.

Day 4

This is cheating a little bit, since it came out in Japan in 1986, and was only released in the US in 1989, but it was difficult for me to find a game that had a release in my birth year that I had spent any significant amount of time playing. I loved these games as a kid.

Day 3

A revolutionary RPG, I still don’t think the depth and creativity of this game has been equaled. It’s only $10 on GOG, go play it and thank me later.

Day 2

Supergiant’s games are known for their soundtracks through the incredible work of Darren Korb, but the torchy, jazzy vocals of Ashley Barrett against Korb’s glitchy, triphop-influenced goodness really make this one shine for me.

Day 1

A classic, one of my earliest memories was getting an NES for Christmas from my cousin when I was maybe 5 or 6, I never got past World 4 but I played this game (the Mario/Duck Hunt combo cartridge, no less) a lot as a kid.
