Women (and girls) protested and raised some unholy hell starting in about ‘65 to tear down that incredibly controlling “rule.” Depending on community it took a couple of years. But by 1970 pants/slacks/jeans for women were acceptable.

That’s absolutely WILD how closely it resembles the “grass stage” of longleaf pine (SE US). Which did evolve with and requires fire!! Pinus palustris.

How did i miss this? At one time in my USFS career i was the district rec program manager. We had two popular rifle ranges (close to Charleston SC). I absolutely HATED swinging by and checking on things (what kitchen appliances/TVs were dumped by the locals for targets?).
