There was a very glaring issue with this taxonomy that they all (myself included) pointed out— the problem that many nonbinary people and closeted trans people fall under this, and that it would only enforce a hierarchy based on oppression olympics and scare the closeted from seeking transition. ⬇️

One transfem directly involved in that beef replied to me posting the below meme with "what does this mean?", then blocking me before I could respond. I later learned that she read it as me taking sides in that beef, while I was completely unaware of what was going on at the time.

Linux Mint (Cinnamon edition) is a great starter distro. It's kinda like Windows XP in that it's is simple and easy to find your way around with a mouse, but you totally can be a power user if you want to. The default desktop looks really nice, and is easily customizable. It's stable, too.

Costs 30 dollars when it's *not* on sale.

Overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam.

Indie studios got the juice. AAA industry needs to get on their level.

Also, you don't have to have graphical fidelity for a game to look good. Indie studios make GORGEOUS games all the time.

This is what my laptop looks like now. No fancy github scripts, hacky terminal utilities, or dotfiles. Just clicking through the GUI for a bit and installing a theme or two through the settings menu.

The wallpaper is one one of the defaults that come with Mint 22.

I will say even though I prefer KDE Plasma myself, Mint's Cinnamon desktop has a really nice vibe that just looks and feels nice to use, even with just the default colors and icons.

A good option if you're looking for a free and easy to use alternative to Windows, with all the freedom we used to enjoy from Windows 9x through Windows XP/7. It can even game if that's what you're looking for. Personally, I find it to be a comfy user experience after learning my way around the menus. Also, fuck Microsoft.

Nine Sols has a Story Mode with sliders for damage and attack power because the devs wanted everyone to be able to experience the story without the game's standard difficulty getting in the way of their enjoyment.

Someone apparently coined the term "MetroidBrainias" for games like TUNIC or Void Stranger.

I vote we instead call them MetroidSilvias. Because every time I see a streamer play these, they eventually wind up looking like this by late game:
