One of the things I have taken for granted in #cancer recovery is how hard it would be to turn around in the front seat and help my #twins fix whatever toy isn’t working or fell. When clinicians talk about helplessness and iADL impairment no one talks about the bucklebook zipper getting stuck

When conservatives argue that Medicare/medicaid is too expensive will they recognize that those costs are rising because of their own ineptitude and fecklessness in the face of authoritarianism

While I recover from #cancer #surgery I am filling literary gaps. Came across this gem of a quote in #Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. Felt right for absurdist authoritarian days

I just spent 4 nights in the hospital after having another part of my sacrum removed. My biggest take away is how much the little stuff mattered. Nurses and techs writing their name on my white board, getting help to do a standing sponge bath, quickly silencing alarms on my IV. More to come.

At the same 11:30 my nurse told me “ok don’t worry I’ll let you sleep. I’m not going to bother you again tonight. See you in the morning”

I, Ever a skeptic, asked “when is the next medication due?”

“And I think the care partner said vitals are at 2?”
