Are you familiar with Ursula Vernons (as T. Kingfisher) Saint of Steel series? The Rat temple in that is pretty much that, with less vengeance and more lawyers.

I still consider this to be the crowning achievement for DA. Close and grounded narrative without World Ending Stakes. Shame about the reused assets, which still annoy me, but eh.

Yeah, it lost a lot of the magic. Some of it went away with the immense grind of Venice and Tokyo even before that though.
