For years I've had an idea for an artzine incubating in my mind, and now that the stars are alligned, that idea is coming to fruition. The Critical Reflection artzine is for those who believe games can be poetry and that they carry meaning.

Fountain pens are wonderful to write with, beautiful to look at, and so pleasing to hold. And more fragile than the cheapo disposable pens.

Oh, God, this is one of those "where do I even start" things, because Roblox is, like, *fractally* fucked. They are terrible at content moderation. A lot of the games are rated incorrectly, so kids can encounter graphic content (sex or violence) out of nowhere --

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardívol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

strategy games often have historical trappings, as people are familiar with the narratives of historical wars. But this focuses "games that deliver history" on "histories that are strategically interesting", and precludes much of "histories where people are really fucking irrational and it's bad"
