NEW: Here's your weekend read from me. I wrote about the enduring utility of typewriters!

Some people use them for fun but, as I found out, there are a surprising number of businesses around the US where typewriters are still the tool of choice for certain tasks.

'We use them every day': In some parts of the US, the clack of typewriter keys can still be heard
Computers and smartphones might be where most writing is done these days, but typewriters still have work to do in the US.

Opinion | Musk Said No One Has Died Since Aid Was Cut. That Isn’t True. (Gift Article)
A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.

- chicks exposed to microplastics showed similar patterns of damage to brain as seen in Alzheimer's, & harm to liver, kidney & stomach

Well done, River Action and Leigh Day!

The landmark judgment should also now mean that proper environmental controls are put in place across the country to oversee the production and handling of manure from animals on farms.
Landmark UK ruling classes chicken shit as actual waste, rather than merely an 'agricultural byproduct', as it was previously.

Hopefully, this will make it harder to get away with killing entire river ecosystems with industrial levels of effluent.

In 2023 the Scottish Greens removed them, only for the SNP to restore them as soon as we were out of the room.

Join me in telling the SNP that it's time to scrap peak rail fares for good. 👇
