Ah yes, the many many historical instances of paint and brush manufacturing companies suing artists for using their products shows how hypocritical artists are for criticizing AI usage.

It's a genius marketing strategy -- get people so accustomed to your company's unique lingo that they're uncomfortable going in any other business. I'm pretty sure I never saw that starbucks customer in our store ever again

Once, I worked in a coffee shop. A starbucks customer came in and ordered a caramel macchiato. I, not knowing anything about the starbucks drink, made them an espresso topped with a dollop of milk foam and some caramel sauce in a cute li'l ceramic cup and they said "wtf is this"

I think the miscommunication is in the fact that when sbux customers say "coffee," they mean "hot caffeinated caramel milkshake with whip cream," so yeah, that's not something most folks can easily make at home in the 30 minutes between falling out of bed and going to work

This makes me feel strangely sad. I love it.

I decided it would be cool for my characters to discover an underground temple, and just let the poor schmuck who has to draw it (my future self) worry about the details

Yeah I love his work too! I see a spiritual through-line between Van Allsburg and Wiesenfeld, especially when you put their work side by side.

That first drawing is by Aron Wiesenfeld, not Van Allsburg.

Yes to all this. It's annoying when someone posts a screenshot and says "great point" or whatever and I'm left wondering whose great point it is

Phone use does all that, true, but this photo isn't evidence of that. Who's to say these people didn't spend all day sharing an experience in the museum & appreciating living in the moment, and this snapshot merely recorded them taking a break before going off to do more connecting and appreciating?

This movie was waay too intense for my 10-year-old self to watch

The way the clip auto-replays, showing him bloody and defeated at the end, then smash cuts back to the beginning, is pure cinema
