This is not science or journalism:

What if the vibecession is a psyop by The Bosses to make people experience precarity while labor still actually has the power to extract concessions rather than make them.

I don’t love all of my coworkers all of the time, but one of them gave me this gift. And now I share it with you.

Being a teacher is 20% pedagogy & preparation, 20% entertainer, 60% mass hypnotist/conman —

So today i spent about 90 minutes trying to persuade two sets of parents parents that neither of their teenaged boys are felons nor victims of felonies.

Having myself a grump.
But, I did get a flannel pillowcase. And that, at least, is very nice.

Fury Road is not the only way to make a movie well. But it is a well-made movie.

Okay, I admit it. I’m a little bit angry that the book I’m reading got 200x more interesting at the half point.
I know you need SOME space to establish character and motivation but… couldn’t SOMETHING have been interesting during the first half?!

I have the flu.
It's exhausting.
But what's really exhausting? Eating.

But not eating is a downward spiral of exhaustion robbing me of the energy to eat.
I did this a few years ago, got the flu, recovered, still had major fatigue, went to the doctor. He said, "Dude, eat." I ate and got better.

I know that the amount of money he has left makes the loss meaningless, but I do like the fact that nobody in history has ever lost more money than that one guy with the rockets and EVs/

I just wish he had lost it into something instead of it being evaporated equity value.

Naive question: why wasn’t the minority whip all over those D senators breaking party solidarity?

True, cynic-making answer: the whip was one of the senators breaking party solidarity.

Recall Durbin.

FWIW I honestly believe that the Gatsby party is a willful, planned joke. “Parties do kill people and we’re doing it anyway. So we choose an icon of rich people killing people and make that the party theme.”

The real surprise? It took 22 years for a badge and gun agency without decades of legal restriction cruft to become a terrorizing paramilitary.

*They just had to wait for Americans to hate each other enough.

*They is the nebulous, molochian pressures toward authoritarianism, not particular people.

Let’s say that even though the fisherman air strikes are murder and the perps are known, they’re hard to prosecute.
And if (big if) we are supposed to give deference to the explanation that those are drug smugglers, aren’t they ALSO be violations of posse comitatus?

Everybody KNOWS you don’t break a fall with your palm down to the ground… but you can only avoid doing it with practice.

Guess who sprained their wrist!

Good news, X-rays cost $11 out of pocket.

Now eagerly awaiting Trump v USA (yes, in that order) over the White House construction: noise pollution, and loss of productivity should be about a billion dollar settlement, right?
And Trump v USA over Trump’s working hours, that has to be against labor laws, right? Another billion?
And and and

SCOTUS always stays injunctions against TRUMPOTUS, no matter how blatantly illegal the action.

SCOTUS usually rules on merits *against* TRUMPOTUS, never changing what is and is not legal.

TRUMPOTUS never stops doing illegal things and is never stopped from them either.

Courts will not save us.

1. I believe it is a positive thing that Israel has stopped bombing Gaza and let in hundreds of aid trucks over the last couple days.

2. I believe it is a sign of Israel's belief in the stability of this ceasefire that they are not letting in the stipulated amount of aid.

I was in Canada 2 weeks ago. I need to go to Indonesia in a few months. I needed to renew my passport between them, which looks easy, but with buying plane tickets and stuff it felt a little wobbly. And then the government shut down.
Buhhhht, passport services are (fully?) funded by fees. Yay fees!

Baseless (read: false) claim of the day:

Trump’s hand discolorations are actually injuries from wearing ill fitting Trump Watches during the design and testing phases.

(As if they were designed specifically for the Trump line…)

Why you can’t “let American feel the pain” of bad Trump decisions.

Each program that is allowed to suck reduces Americans’ belief that government CAN do anything but enrich the connected.

If you’re not getting your health care through ACA you (statistically) stop caring if it’s dismantled.

I had a brief business trip to Canada last week.

And I learned something devestating.

Canadians have Cadbury Mini Eggs year-round. They are actually mini'er than the mini eggs I fell in love with, which throws off the candy-shell to chocolate ratio a little. but JUST A LITTLE.

What I did not think “teaching English in Japan” would mean: putting on a necktie at 7am before sunrise in Calgary to go make sales calls to the scattered towns in the region.

*shrug* never know what’s over the next crest.

I know I haven’t said anything about it… but I am on my way to Alberta (that’s in Canada, for the Americans reading) for a business trip less than a week long.

May be out of touch (hah! Who would notice?!) or out of sorts for a little while.

TFW you realize that, essentially, you're not cut out for modern life. That is, you're incapable of chewing gum and walking at the same time.

*sigh* Any work that I think I can do with half an ass bites me in my whole ass.
