aside from AI being a garbage theft machine that destroys the planet…how is this disrupting anything?? there are already too many books for the number of people willing to buy and read them. adding 8,000 more isn’t doing anything new

the way the user base talks about this site (the vibes, algorithm, etc.) makes it very clear to me that what you’ve all been yearning for this entire time is literally just post-collapse tumblr
“people who follow you actually see the things you post” is, apparently, a bespoke feature of social media only available here on bluesky
The fact that there’s so much more engagement here than on threads seems to point a real throttling of content

are these tools ethical or environmentally sustainable? No.
*but* do they enable great things that people want? Also no.
*but* are they being made by well meaning people for good reasons? Once again, no.
