Small Things Like These isn't a great movie about the Magdalene Laundries, but it is a fantastic character study about someone that interacts w it. The cold winter countryside of Ireland makes for a bleak backdrop for a story about trying to do good in a world with overwhelming amounts of suffering.

Small Things Like These is ultimately a navel gazing saviour complex story that is beautifully shot and marvelously acted. If you like watching Cillian Murphy be just Really Upset about girls getting abused then boy oh boy is this the movie for you.

Went to cinema last night to see ‘Small things like these’. Good movie. Cillian Murphy shows his acting ability - a quiet reflective coal man - as opposed to Shelby in Peaky Blinders and Oppenheimer. A nice that kind of stays with you afterwards.

Small Things Like These: turns out you can get a whole movie out of examining every crevice on Cillian Murphy’s haunted face. Refreshingly lowkey, far more quiet lingering than in-your-face tragedy. Shot with a hazy sadness. Really liked this.
