FACT OF THE DAY. 8 November 1939. Adolf Hitler narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by Georg Elser (pictured). Hitler was making his annual speech at a Munich beer hall on the anniversary of the 1923 Munich Beer Hall Putsch but he left 13 minutes before the bomb exploded.

Pick a few topics and learn how to recognize valid authorities on those topics. Source from those authorities. Realize that “authorities” may have bias but are still useful. Uncover your own cognitive biases. Don’t conflate agreement with truth.
Every day on the internet makes it abundantly clear that some people have never had a single person turn around and say to them, ‘Cite your sources’ because, and I say this with every ounce of love I can muster as a teacher: while you are entitled to your opinion, that does not make it fact.

Stopping HIV drug distribution overseas is ignorant cruelty. These drugs save lives. The president has also nominated a known HIV denialist to be Secretary of HHS. After all the lessons learned in 40+ years, how can the USA even be considering going in this direction?
