It was early Christmas morning in 1968 when Houston regained signal from Apollo 8 and Capt. Jim Lovell sent back an important message:

“Please be informed there *is* a Santa Claus.” 🎅

CAPCOM Ken Mattingly replied “That’s affirmative. You are the best ones to know.”

In conversation with the crew commander of the helicopter asked the crew what the Moon was made out of, whereupon Anders responded that it's not made out of green cheese at all, it's made out of American cheese.

With great sadness, we mourn the passing of Jerry Bostick, who died at the age of 86. A defining figure of Mission Control, he contributed to Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Skylab. An extraordinary individual whose dedication and humanity will be remembered. Our thoughts are with his family and friends
